Buy dragster motorcycle in Portugal
A dragster motorcycle is a specially prepared bike for short speed races like Drag Racing. In these races, the motorcycle has to cover a straight distance of 402 meters in just a few seconds, starting from a standstill.
At the finish line, the motorcycle's speed reaches up to 300-400 km/h, and for the entire distance, these high-speed bikes take only 5 seconds! To stop the flying dragster after the finish line, colorful parachutes are deployed from special compartments, similar to those used to stop fighter jets!
Design Features of Dragsters
Typically, these are powerful and heavy motorcycles with highly forced engines. The power of the fastest dragster models reaches up to 1000 hp (equivalent to 736 kW). They have a long wheelbase and stabilizing wings of a special design that protect the machine from flipping backward. Often, nitrous oxide and nitromethane are used during refueling, so the fuel tank is made of fire-resistant material.
The design of a dragster motorcycle is developed considering a number of factors. Therefore, it has:
- a relatively low center of gravity;
- quality durable fairings;
- high structural stability;
- a small front wheel and a massive rear wheel.
Thanks to the streamlined shapes of the machine, the pilot is protected from strong airflow, which affects against time and bike acceleration. Essentially, the entire path is covered by this motorcycle on just one massive rear wheel. While the front, purely symbolic small wheel, accounts for no more than 10% of the bike's weight.
During powerful instantaneous acceleration, this wheel hardly touches the road surface. To prevent the machine from flipping backward, long stabilizing wings are attached to the tail of the bike.
Features of Dragster Racing
At one time, motorcycle dragster racing appeared in the USA but quickly declined. However, in Europe and other places, this type of sport is very popular.
Today, these races include several subcategories. For example, in races like 'Funny Bike,' motorcycles that resemble classic road bikes but with much greater power, achieved through turbocharging or nitrous oxide, are used.
There is also a category called 'Pro Stock' for the most professional riders, although they are hardly distinguishable from standard bikes externally. These dragster models run on gasoline. In the cheapest base class, pilots can compete on virtually any motorcycle, from standard to modified sports bikes.
A dragster participating in races is equipped with an engine running on nitromethane fuel. The fuel tank is connected to the rocket element with a special thin tube.
When using this type of fuel, toxic gases are emitted, so pilots must wear masks with filters. As well as a fireproof helmet in case of a possible explosion or fire in the event of an accident.
In other words, Dragster is a rocket in the world of motorcycles.
