Cruiser Motorcycle - Powerful Bike for Travel
Many models of cruiser motorcycles have long since become legendary. These powerful machines with low seating and chrome shine simply cannot fail to impress. On such a motorcycle, you can comfortably travel long distances. The universally renowned Harley-Davidson stands at the origins of their foundation. After it, other manufacturers began to produce these motorcycles.
What features do cruiser bikes have?
- 2-cylinder engine, usually liquid-cooled, with large cylinder fins.
- Quite elaborate plastic (sometimes metal) cladding - large side covers and deep fenders.
- Equal or nearly equal diameter wheels (front 16 inches, rear 15 inches), with the rear wheel having greater width.
- Many chrome-plated parts. Chrome is applied to all possible elements - exhaust pipes, exhaust pipes, engine, headlights, forks, handlebars, wheels. A large number of chrome overlays are used.
- Fork with an almost classic angle to the road.
- Separate seats - a fairly large driver's seat and usually a passenger seat with a backrest.
- For rear-wheel drive, a belt (in some Japanese models and Harley-Davidson), chain (cruisers up to 800cc), and shaft drive (cruisers from 1100cc and Yamaha) are used.
- Specifically shaped handlebars, quite wide and allowing the rider to sit slightly leaned back. In some models, the handlebars are straight, then extensions are used to allow leaning back.
- Droplet-shaped tank, sometimes quite large, usually with an integrated speedometer.
- Despite their appearance, if you decide to buy a cruiser motorcycle, you can count on a fairly comfortable ride on uneven roads. This is facilitated by the rear suspension with 1 or 2 shock absorbers.
- The main headlight is inserted into a large chrome housing - a fairing. There may also be additional paired headlights placed on both sides of the main one (construction type "mirror").
- Cruisers often have a windshield, which is especially large for long trips.
4 Legendary Motorcycles in this Series
Harley-Davidson Fat Boy FLSTF
Yes, this is the same motorcycle Arnold Schwarzenegger rode in "Terminator 2." The weight of such a machine is 315 kg, it has fat tires with solid steel discs. At the front, there is an inverted fork and a large halogen headlight in a chrome housing. Wide footboards protrude from both sides. This motorcycle is often called the "Fat Boy."
HD Electra Glide
The release of this bike began in 1965, and it was equipped with an electric starter. Since then, it has been repeatedly updated technically. Now it is a large cruiser with an informative instrument panel, three plastic trunks, an audio system and a tape recorder, as well as a wide handlebar. The model's special name is "Electric." This is a great machine for riding outside the city.
Kawasaki Eliminator
The series was launched into production in the 80s. The basic idea of creating the model was to combine a cruiser and a sports bike, so it received an engine from a sports model. At the time, this caused a real furor among bikers. This feature has been preserved to this day. Such cruiser motorcycles are distinguished by individuality, although now their production is already limited.
Honda Gold Wing
Serial production started in the 70s. After a series of improvements, a unique touring bike with a double frame (rigid and soft aluminum), speed self-regulation, and a reverse button system was released. The seats are made in the already classic stepped style. There are large luggage compartments. The name of the model is often used - "Golden Wing."
